Support local manufacturing

Fast furniture, like fast fashion, changed the way many people imagined corporate and educational spaces. And while the globalisation effect meant an influx of global design at competitive pricing, in many parts of the world it pulled the rug out from under local designers and manufacturers.

The Covid-19 pandemic has thrown the need for local business support into the spotlight. The design sector is quickly realising, as we approach the other side of this turbulent time, that it’s a golden opportunity to rehabilitate and rebuild domestic supply chains as we begin to rebuild our businesses.

What’s more, the sort of industrial innovation we rely on cross-pollinates tidily with greater local job opportunities and overall improved economic performance – so it’s win-win. And when you take into account the need for environmental as well as economic pivoting, buying and supporting local products and endorsing local manufacturing solutions is something of a no-brainer.

Society as a whole is rightly focused on regaining a sense of equilibrium. And we believe the rapidly-growing trend of support for local manufacturing offers employment, sustainability, and greater long-term economic resilience for all.
